Mixie Bottles. Genius.

There are a ton products out there that are made to make your life easier as a parent. I buy all of these products because I need all the help I can get!  Some products are amazing, others, not so much. The <a href="http://Mixie falls into the rock you world category!

This is why I LOVE Mixie Bottles.

Mixie is probably the greatest invention of all time.  Think of every time you have been at Target (I go to Target a lot if you haven’t noticed), the mall, grocery shopping, etc. and needed to make a bottle.  You have water, a bottle, a container for the formula and then when you go to mix the two, formula spills all over the place.  So annoying!  This also happens to me in the middle of the night and drives me insane.

My life got a little easier the day I walked into Galt Baby and saw the Mixie. This bottle has a compartment for the formula that keeps it safely protected from the water until your ready to mix!  Instead of carrying bottles, water, and formula, all you need to bring with you is a Mixie or two!  I love this.  My diaper bag just got like 2 pounds lighter.

The bottles come in two sizes, 4 oz and 8oz, are dishwasher safe and Bisphenol-A Phthalate and PVC free. That has to be good, right?  HA!  I kid.

Here are some “action” shots of the Mixie…

Although these bottles are kind of pricey, $17.00 for the 4oz and $22.00 for 8 oz, my husband agrees that Mixie is worth EVERY penny!  When I travel with the kids, these are the only bottles I use.  Trying to prepare a bottle on a crammed flight or in a car, with two wild kiddos, is no easy task.  Mixie will save you a lot of time and aggravation, which is why I know they will rock your world!

I know what you’re thinking right now…  So.Many.Pieces. Yes.  There are a few parts to clean, but, have you ever had to use a Dr. Brown bottle?  It’s kind of the same idea. It’s a pain, but you do whatever works!

I highly recommend investing in at least one Mixie so you can see just how awesome this product really is!

Baby Jogger Summit X3

Sometime around March, I decided I needed a jogging stroller so I could run with the kids.  I don’t run.  Unless It’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.  I run for that.

When I was look at jogging strollers, my first thought was that we needed a BOB Duallie.  Bought a BOB Duallie only to realize I couldn’t see over the stroller with the canopies extended.  The last thing I need is to run over a small animal on my “run” with the kids…

After doing some research, I decided the perfect double jogger for us was the Baby Jogger Summit X3 Double.  I have to say, I was more than impressed with the X3.  It was incredibly easy to run with (run may be an exaggeration but In my mind I looked like an Olympic athlete), has huge canopies with peek-a-boo windows AND a side flap that clips up revealing a mesh insert for extra ventilation.  I’m all about ventilation. There is nothing worse than an overheated toddler screaming to let them out of the stroller.

The X3 double features rear air-filled tires and a swivel front, lockable wheel.  Heading down a trail? Lock that front wheel and you’re golden.

The seats are spacious and comfortable for the littles.  We took ours to Sea World and both kids were content and napped like the perfect little angels they are…yeah right.  They weren’t Angels, but they were content…for the most part.

The summit has some really great features you may not know about… Remember the front swivel wheel?  Well, Baby Jogger added a lever to the right of the handle bar that locks the front wheel in place making it super simple to toggle from swivel to locked.  Very convenient for all you adventurous folks out there!  Along with the lever to lock the wheel, you have a hand break as well if you need it.

Sometime around March when I decided I was going to start running… I was clearly out of my mind.

Considering this is a jogger, I was totally impressed with the basket and fold.  The basket is pretty large and easy to reach. Much easier than the City Mini series of strollers by Baby Jogger.  They also kept their famous easy flat fold with the Summit, which I LOVE!

All in all, I really like the Summit X3 Double as a jogger. My major complaints are the size and weight. Although it’s big, I was still able to fit this through most doorways and it traveled back from Orlando like a champ. You really have to pick and choose your battles when it comes to double strollers. Baby Jogger is a reputable brand and known for their fantastic customer service. That’s something else to keep in mind when you are on the hunt for a new stroller.

If you’re the adventurous type and need a stroller that can keep up with your active lifestyle, the Baby Jogger Summit X3 Double is probably a great fit for you.  I’ve added a few for specs below, to help you out 🙂

Happy Strolling!

Perfectly Packed

My obsession for purses quickly switched to Diaper Bags when I became a Mom. Like purses, I struggled to keep my Diaper Bag Organized. I loathe digging through a black hole trying to find what I need. So, I perfected my packing skills to make sure I was never frantically looking for a snack ever again. Everything has a place and is easy to find!

If you’re having the same struggles, keep reading…

First, lets talk about what should be in your bag on a daily basis.

This is my master list:

3 diapers for each child

Bib (for Harper)

A + A Swaddle Blanket (These can be used for pretty much anything! love them)

Joovy Dood Sippy Cup (THE best!)

Mixie Bottle

Emergency tantrum snacks

Changing pad

Change of clothes

Here is how I pack my Petunia Pickle Bottom Downtown Tote:

Inside of my Ju-Ju-Be Be Quick Wristlet, I have diapers, Band-Aids, and sunblock. I like to keep the sunscreen in a bag like the BeQuick incase it were to melt/leak. I don’t want to ruin my Diaper Bag!

I use the  Itzy Ritzy Reusable Snack Bag for Brody and Harper’s munchies. I fill it every morning with goldfish or cheese puffs.

I prep a Mixie Bottle everyday because it’s so convenient and takes up less room. The bottle holds the formula in a compartment separate from the water. You just pop a button and shake. Perfectly makes your bottles with no mess! More to come on these little gems…

My emergency snacks are those little Gerber puffs for Harper and fruit snacks for Brody. Sugar is probably the worst thing for a tantrum, but, he loves them. They usually give me 10 minutes of peace and quiet so I can finish grocery shopping.

This is what my bags looks like once it’s packed. The change of clothes and bib are folded on the bottom, aden + anais Bamboo Swaddle Blanket on top, followed by the Be Quick. I try to keep things in order of how I will use them. The bag pictured is the Petunia Pickle Bottom Downtown Tote. It has a pocket for everything which really helps to keep my bag organized.

I love that I can see everything in my bag when I open it. No more digging!

A great thing about keeping your necessities in a Be Quick, is that it makes switching diapers bags really easy! Even if we are just going for a walk around the block, I know that my Be Quick is always stocked and ready to go. I just grab it and were off!

It’s taken me 2 years to perfect my bag. I used to bring 20 diapers, wipes, 3 outfit changes, 5 bottles, blah, blah, blah. Basically, I brought everything we owned wherever we went. To avoid overpacking and weighing down my bag, I always have an extra Be Quick in the car filled will emergency diapers and wipes, and a spare diaper bag with clothes and extra bottles/cups in case of an emergency.

I really love this Petunia Pickle Bottom bag because it’s grey on the inside which makes everything really easy to find and it has a glaze coating on the outside that makes it easy to clean. Keep that in mind when your on the hunt for your next bag!

Hope this helps you stay organized! If you have any great tips, I would love to hear them!

Happy Strolling 🙂

That Oh, $%*& Moment…

Today is our Anniversary.  We have been married 5 years! My husband should win an award for lasting this long!

It got me thinking of the major milestones that have occurred over the last 5 years, and it brought me to this topic…Pregnancy.

When my Husband and I decided we were ready to try for a Baby, it was a truly magical moment.  We were about 4 shots of tequila deep, and I literally said “let’s make a baby!”.  Romantic, right?!! Ha!  We tend to make most life changing decisions like this. We decided to move into together around 4am over Chinese takeout….

Anyways, a few weeks after deciding it was time for a baby, we were at the Gym and I hopped on a treadmill for a run.  About 1 minute in, I was dying because with every step, my boobs felt like they were about to fall off. I hit pause, and stood there for a minute trying to figure out what the hell was going on.  Then, the light bulb went off. I ran upstairs to find my husband and told him we needed to run to Walgreens RIGHT NOW.  I bought a pregnancy test, and was all sketchy carrying it under my arm to the check-out line.  I felt like everyone was judging me.  Maybe that’s because I’m totally nosey and stare at other people doing the same thing… Really, I’m just curious about what’s going through their mind at that moment…

We get home, eat some food, my husband leaves for an event and I figured it was the right time to take THE test.  After a few minutes of just staring at this little stick, I called my husband, who was driving at the time mind you, and said “Hey babe, I’m pregnant!!!”.  Now, looking back, I probably should have waited for him to pull over or get to his destination before giving him this information, but, I was excited! I could not believe it! I mean, I could, what was I expecting to happen!  But, I was still in complete shock! I never thought it would happen so quickly.

Naturally, the first place I went after getting this great news was Target.  I needed to buy 50 more pregnancy tests to make sure this was legit!  I continued to obsessively take tests until my first doctors appointment.  We spent a small fortune on First Response Pregnancy Tests because I got a serious high off of seeing that second line pop up faster and faster.  Don’t even try to pretend like you didn’t do the same.  I won’t believe you!

Once it sunk in that we were in fact, having a baby, I completely panicked. I wasn’t sure what was more terrifying… that there was a tiny human being growing inside of me, or, that I eventually had to get this thing out!!

The 9 months that followed those “two little lines”, were nothing like I imagined.  I gained 65 pounds.  Yes, I said 65.  I couldn’t roll over in bed, I got stuck in the bathtub, broke our shoe rack trying to get my Uggs on, and cried pretty much everyday.  It was HORRIBLE.  Why anyone would tell you that pregnancy is beautiful, is beyond me.  I looked like a freakin’ whale going through puberty.  Awful.  Just awful.

I’m pretty sure our friends and family were terrified to be around me.  They probably thought I was going to eat them for dinner!

But, those 9 months came and went, I eventually got the baby out (that was no easy task!) and our beautiful little boy, Brody, was born!  Once I saw that little face looking at me, I said, NEVER AGAIN!  He was perfect, we all survived, and I was DONE!

Then I got pregnant with Harper, 9 months later and did it all over again…. I blame wine for that one!

I kid.  We love you, Harper!!!

Pregnancy is a blessing.  The fact that we can give life is an amazing thing.  But, it’s probably the scariest experience of your life.  You really have no control over what’s happening with your body.  You just have to trust that everything will be ok… That’s really hard for a total control freak like me!  Whenever I see a Mom waddling down the street, looking completely miserable with serious cankles, my heart goes out to her.  But, I am also secretly jealous. She’s about to experience the greatest moment in her life.

And that, my friends, is why the Oh $%&* moment is totally worth it.

If you’re pregnant, just had a baby, or reading this at 4am because your beautiful little monster won’t sleep… I’ve been there.  Twice.  I promise it get’s better! Cherish these moments because they go by fast.
