Mixx it up!

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram,  you’ve probably seen a million and one pictures of this beautiful stroller I’m reviewing today.  We are in LOVE with our Nuna Mixx. This stroller offers so many great features, and is definitely worth taking for a test drive.

I searched high and low for the Nuna Mixx in the Mykonos color.  It’s beyond gorgeous and was the perfect stroller to take on our trip down to the Florida Keys.  I definitely put the Mixx through some rigorous testing, and it passed with flying colors.  Let’s get started!

The Mixx features a cozy reversible seat, with a full FLAT recline that was perfect during our trip.  We were out exploring from morning to night,  so no less than two naps were taken in Mixx each day!  When your child falls asleep in the stroller,  you know you’ve hit the jackpot.

The fabric remained cool in the Florida heat, and the large canopy offered plenty of coverage for my little cuties.  The Canopy has a zipper, which opens up and extends for optimal coverage with two mesh inserts on either side to allow for extra ventilation.  The handle bar is easy to adjust and the storage basket is HUGE.  The basket was able to hold a Ju-Ju-Be Super Be or Be Prepared (I tried out both), beach toys, drinks, and extra towels.  There’s even a divider to keep things organized.  My OCD self did a little happy dance when I saw that feature!

Nuna really had a child’s comfort in mind when creating this beauty.  The seat is plush and roomy, and offers a three or five point harness that really comes in handy when you have riders of different ages. The Mixx comes with a removable arm bar that’s perfect for attaching stroller toys.  A snack tray is not available yet, but, it’s in the works and will be available soon.  This will be a great addition to an already fab stroller!

The push on the Mixx is awesome!  It has front and rear wheel progressive suspension technology.  I pushed this stroller through every terrain possible in Florida… Sand, gravel, grass, bumpy sidewalks… You name it, we tried it!  It handled like a dream, just like I knew it would.

The rear tires are large, which allowed me to pull it through soft sand on the beach easily.  The foot brake is one touch and definitely flip-flop friendly, which I love!

One of my favorite features on the Nuna Mixx has to be the fold.  It’s so simple, that on day 2 of our vacation, everyone in the Family knew how to fold the stroller!

The Mixx can be collapsed with the seat facing in either direction, it’s fairly compact, and can be opened with one hand.  Whichever direction you fold the stroller, the seat fabric is protected, and I love that.

I gate checked (GASP!!) our Mixx on both flights, and I have to say that due to the awesome fold (and Frontier Airlines for being awesome!), this stroller was in immaculate condition when we received it.

My only complaint would have to be the design of the handlebar.  It’s comfortable, but the shape is different from most strollers.  I think it just takes some getting used to… My Husband didn’t even notice the difference, so, take it as me just being picky…that’s kind of my job though! 🙂

Here are the Specs on the Nuna Mixx:

  • Price: $499.95
  • recommended use: birth to 50 lbs
  • Compatible with Nuna PIPA Car Seat
  • Car Seat Adapter included with purchase of stroller
  • product dimensions: h 44.3 x w 23.4 x l 33.5 in

  • product weight: 24.9 lbs  *weight does not include canopy or arm bar
  • Colors: Mykonos, Slate, Caviar, and Basil.

Overall, the Nuna Mixx is a fabulous everyday stroller.  Coming in at under $500.00, it’s a lot of bang for your buck. The design and quality are outstanding, and it’s totally gorgeous to look at.  The comfort of the seat, amazing push, easy fold, and large storage basket, make this a great option for daily use or city living!

Happy Strolling

Snap4.

When my Husband gave the OK to add a new stroller to our fleet (thanks, babe), I knew exactly what I wanted to try. The Valco Snap4.  I’ve eyed this stroller for a while because it has every feature a busy mom like myself, is looking for.  Valco is hard to come by in stores, so, I know my stroller loving Mommas will really appreciate this review 😉

Hope you enjoy!

If I had to describe the Snap4 in one word, it would be “Easy”.  It’s just so freaking easy.  It’s easy to assemble, easy to push, easy to fold (with one hand) and easy to carry (it even has a carry strap).  You all know by now that I love anything that makes my life easier!

I feel like Valco watched Dad’s across the world trying to fold strollers and decided to solve the problem for them.  You guys should really thank Valco 😉

The Valco Snap4 features a lightweight aluminum frame, near flat recline, extra-large extendable canopy with a peek-a-boo window, bumper bar, nice size storage basket that’s easy to access, and my favorite, a child proof harness!!  It literally took me 10 minutes to figure out how to un-clip the harness the first time I used a Valco stroller. Not my finest moment.

Here’s Harper living the life and loving the nice recline!

When I’m looking for an everyday or travel stroller, I want an easy fold, plenty of canopy coverage, something that won’t tip easily, and a nice recline for naps on the go.  The Snap4 hits all of these and more. Let’s talk about the fold for a minute…  Valco has a unique fold that I am kind of obsessed with.  The stroller folds into itself so your seat and fabric are protected.  They call it a clean fold.  I LOVE it!

Check out the photo below comparing the City Mini to the Valco.  Strollers are like my kids, and I don’t like to compare them to one another.  But, sometimes that’s needs to happen to decide what’s right for you…so…

The fold is so compact, I was able to fit the Snap4 behind the driver’s seat of our GMC Terrain. Even when my husband was driving! More room in the trunk for strollers!! #buyallthestrollers

I really love the push and maneuverability of the Snap4. It was a breeze to push through gravel, bumpy Chicago sidewalks, and grass. Brody has become obsessed with this stroller as well, and even at 34 inches tall and 30 lbs, it still kept the same great push. He also seemed comfortable in the seat and had room to grow!

One more awesome feature I want to point out is how upright the seat sits. My kids are super nosey (I wonder who they get that from) and don’t like any sort of recline. I don’t know if they assume I’m trying to get them to nap or what, but, it usually ends in a bad situation.

If I had to change one thing about the stroller, it would be the handlebar. It sits at a really comfortable height for me, as well as my husband. But, I always favor an adjustable handle bar. Definitely not a deal breaker, but still something to consider. For reference, I am 5’2″ on a good day, and my Husband 5″10″.

Ok, let’s get down to the nitty-gritty and talk specs…

Happy Strolling

Size Matters…

Get your head out of the gutter people! I’m talking about the 2015 Mountain Buggy Duet. I’ve been going back and forth on buying this stroller for a while now and after using it daily for almost 2 weeks, I have come to the conclusion that this is probably what I needed from the start. Ugh!

11391392_10200670539562230_5225506964599971646_n

Ok, let’s get down to business…. Are you sitting down? The Mountain Buggy Duet is only 25 inches wide. 25 inches!!! It’s the width of a single stroller. Here it is next to our Bugaboo Donkey for reference!

Mind. Blown. A major complaint is that double strollers are so wide and awkward. Not anymore. This double fits through any doorway, elevator door, and bathroom stall. You name it, I tried it. Not only is the duet a skinny minnie, but it folds with one in about 2 seconds. Mountain Buggy pretty much eliminated the two major complaints we all have with double strollers. Width & Fold. Thanks, MB!! Not only does the Duet fit through any door way (even those tiny doors in old Chicago buildings) but it also pushes like a dream. It’s a one hand push through pretty much any terrain and that makes me really happy!

If you are concerned that your ever-growing toddler won’t last long in the narrow seat, think again. Here’s my 34 inch, 30lb 2-year-old in the seat with tons of room!

The Mountain Buggy Duet weighs 33lbs, comes in 3 colors; Flint, Chili, and Black. You also have the option to play around with the seats. You can have 2 car seats, one seat and one car seat, one seat and a Joey basket or 2 Joey baskets if you are heading out for some Black Friday shopping without kids. I’m not beyond pushing a stroller without children present. #dontcare The canopies offer plenty of coverage and a peek-a-boo window out of mesh for ventilation.  The seats can recline in any position your heart desires. A major pro to the strap recline system (pretty sure I’m making that term up but you know what I’m talking about) that MB used. The handlebar is also adjustable and I’m positive you can get it to the perfect height for whoever is pushing it around. See below…

One other thing I want to point out is the metal plate on the footrest. Many Moms, including myself, were concerned that it would get hot and be uncomfortable for the kids. I contacted Mountain Buggy about this concern and they informed me that the metal plate is non conductive so it will reflect most of the heat. Since Mother Nature can’t get her $@!? together, I can’t tell you if this is true or not. It’s still 50 degrees here. But, I’ll take their word for it. The Duet has everything I am looking for in a double stroller. Easy push, adjustable handlebar, near flat recline, easy to access storage basket, and great fold. Any stroller that I plan to use on a daily basis needs to meet the above criteria. When you are running on 4 hours of sleep, have 2 screaming kids, and it’s 900 degrees out, you will curse a stroller that’s a pain in the ass to get in and out of your car. Trust me! Now for my cons: 1. Lack of ventilation in the seats for the kiddos. The peek-a-boo window has mesh fabric but that’s the only real spot that you get any ventilation. It would have been nice if they added a mesh spot on the side of the canopy as well. 2. The storage basket isn’t huge but It’s easy to reach. It fits my Skip Hop Duo bag perfectly, along with 3 target bags and few other necessities. I’ll let the basket slide on this one. 3.  I definitely don’t love the foot brake. It’s kind of odd and doesn’t always lock on the first try. Maybe I’m just being to delicate. Either way, it’s not my favorite. 4.  The harness straps. Although my 2 year old has plenty of room, the straps seem short. You can turn the straps into a 3 point harness which is totally fine at that age and gives ample room for a growing toddler.

see? plenty of room!
